Since you found us on the internet - you can search for all the traditional apple recipes. We wanted to give you some super simple easy ones for busy families. Don't be afraid to try different apples in any of the recipes. Apples like fine wine have subtle difference s and nuances. Have fun and enjoy!
Fried Apples
Super simple and easy - try it Try
2 Tbs. Butter
2 Apples peeled and sliced (try different apples)
2 Tbs. Brown Sugar
1 Tbs. Cinnamon
pinch salt
Heat saute pan and melt butter, once melted add all ingredients and stir to coat apples well. Saute approx 10 minutes. Serve as a desert alone or with ice cream, also goes well with pork.
Freezing Apples for Pies
10 cups water
4 1/2 cups sugar
1 cup cornstarch
2 Tsp. Cinnamon
1/4 Tsp. Nutmeg
1 Tsp. Salt
3 Tsp. Real Lemon juice
5 1/2 pounds Apples peeled cored and sliced
Combine all ingredients except for apples, allow to come to a boil and thicken a bit. Remove from hot burner and allow to cool a little. Drop apples into mixture and coat, measure out to your containers to freeze. Add butter when you are ready to make your pie.
Freezing Apples
dissolve 1/2 Tsp. Ascorbic acid in 3 Tbs. water and sprinkle over fruit. Alternately you can steam blanch for 1 1/2 to 2 minutes followed by immersion into an ice bath to stop cooking. Dry and freeze on a tray before placing into containers to keep frozen.
Apple Caramel Dip
1 bag caramels
1 can sweetened condensed milk
1 stick butter or marg.
Unwrap caramels and combine with other ingredients. Melt together in microwave 2 mins. stir, microwave 30 sec. intervals and stir until melted. Dip apple slices into warm caramel. Keeps well in refrigerator only needed to be reheated in microwave.
You could also core and slice an apple - arrange in a desert cup top with caramel and whipped cream. Add nuts and or cherry for a great easy desert.
Cinnamon Apples
Peel and core apples, heat 1 cup water and 1/2 to 3/4 cup red hots candy with 2 cups sugar in large saucepan until melted. Leave apples whole or quarter add apples and cook slowly over med low heat turning frequently. When tender place into bowls and cool.
Apples wrapped in Pastry Dough
Wash, peel, and core apples keeping them whole. Roll out pastry and cut in square large enough to cover your apple. Place apple on square and fill core with brown sugar and sprinkle cinnamon and nutmeg on top of sugar, top with a dot of butter. Bring up side of pastry around apple and seal.
Boil syrup of 1 cup sugar, 1 3/4 cup water, 1/2 tsp. cinnamon, 4 Tbs. butter - boil 3 minutes.
Arrange apples in shallow pan pour syrup over all and preheated oven 500 degrees for 5-7 mins reduce oven t0 325 and bake 35-40 mins.
